Kiosk mode goes full screen, keeps the screen awake and refuses to leave the page — but a web page cannot block the tablet's own home button. For a real lock, use Guided Access on iPad (Settings ▸ Accessibility ▸ Guided Access, then triple-click the side button), screen pinning on Android, or the MehzadTalks app, which does it for you.

Backup and second devices There is no account and no password. A backup gets a code you can read out loud and a key this device remembers. Keep both somewhere safe — nobody can recover a lost key for you, because we never asked for an email address to send one to.

Share these boards with other families

Published copies have the message history, the usage data and the code lock stripped out automatically. Photographs are not — if any button has a picture of your child on it, change it before you publish.

It is free, it always will be, and there is nothing to buy inside it. Not a trial, not a limited version: the whole thing.

If it helps your child, we ask one thing back — a prayer for Mehzad, that he finds his voice too.

MehzadTalks is a free, open communication aid. It runs entirely on this device: no account, no internet, no tracking, nothing sent anywhere.

Built around practices used in high-end AAC systems: a core-word home board that never moves (motor planning), Fitzgerald Key colour coding, folders for fringe vocabulary, switch scanning, dwell selection and recorded voice.

Symbols: the optional symbol search uses ARASAAC pictograms (Government of Aragón, author Sergio Palao, licence CC BY-NC-SA). Everything else uses emoji or your own photos.
